Princeton University is reviewing the future of its Center on Science and Technology (CST) as part of budget cuts affecting various departments. Staff at StudioLab, a creative space under CST, were informed via email that there will be reorganization, impacting initiatives within the center while ensuring job security for employees until June 30, 2027.
Dean of the College, Michael Gordin, indicated that no definitive decisions have been made yet but emphasized a focus on maintaining key components of CST’s work through partnerships with other campus units. The CST currently offers 17 interdisciplinary courses that fulfill distribution requirements, and programming will continue as scheduled this academic year.
Penelope Georges and Mary Caswell Stoddard underscored CST’s unique role in enhancing STEM literacy and science communication at Princeton. The university aims to explore sustainable budget models while supporting transformative STEM education.
