The Fiat 500 has always been a symbol of charm and accessibility in automotive design. La Cinquecento’s 500 Scattante, however, transforms this iconic vehicle into a luxury restomod, expected to fetch around $200,000.
The project began with a 1973 Fiat 500 R, which founder Max Kindersley revived after decades in a barn. Working with Milan’s BorromeodeSilva, the design features subtle modifications, including wider fenders and more aggressive lighting, while maintaining the classic silhouette.
Under the hood, the original engine is replaced with an 802cc twin-cylinder unit from a Fiat 126, accompanied by a revamped suspension, brakes, and steering systems to enhance modern drivability. The upgraded cabin retains its vintage feel with new bucket seats and refined aesthetics.
While this unique blend of history and modern engineering comes at a high price, La Cinquecento aims to create bespoke vehicles, making each 500 Scattante a personalized collector’s item. The transformation essentially redefines the Fiat 500 from a humble economy car to a luxurious auto statement, showcasing its journey from practicality to exclusivity.
