Salish Kootenai College Business Students Launch “Future Bison Scholarship”
PABLO, MT — Business students at Salish Kootenai College are making an impactful initiative by raising funds for a scholarship aimed at easing financial burdens for the next freshman class.
Led by students John Komotios and Bailee Flammond, the “Future Bison Scholarship” aims to raise $10,000 through various entrepreneurial efforts such as door-to-door campaigns, t-shirt sales, and local events.
Komotios highlighted the significance of scholarships in his educational journey, while Flammond noted that the support she received greatly influenced her path to graduating with a bachelor’s degree. “As Native Americans, we come from a lot of struggle,” Komotios said, emphasizing the importance of inspiring future generations.
Flammond also expressed that pursuing a business degree opens numerous opportunities for students, particularly for those uncertain about their career paths. Faculty advisor Timothy Carlin added that the initiative reflects the core philosophy of business education at the college—giving back to the community.
