The LSU (Louisiana State University) has established a new office dedicated to international travel safety and security, known as the Global Travel, Safety & Security (GTSS) office. Led by Director Raynold Lyngdoh, the office aims to ensure the safety of faculty and students traveling abroad, fulfilling LSU’s duty of care.
Lyngdoh, who brings extensive experience from companies specializing in traveler risk management, emphasizes the importance of safe travel. His role includes preparing travelers for destinations assessed as less safe by the U.S. Department of State and monitoring global conditions such as conflicts and natural disasters.
The GTSS office utilizes the Crisis24Horizon platform to evaluate travel risks and provides global travel insurance through OnCall Insurance for all LSU travelers, offering essential medical and security assistance.
While Lyngdoh cannot outright prohibit travel, he can advise against it based on risk assessments, collaborating closely with various LSU offices, including the Study Abroad office, to enhance safety protocols and reassure students and parents about travel measures.
