Ebro Motors Group has impressively revitalized its Barcelona factory, achieving full operational capacity in just eight months instead of the typical 18 months for such projects. This swift turnaround was aided by Fives Conveying Ibérica, which revamped critical stations on the new M1 production line, enabling the output to triple to 20 vehicles per hour. The factory now employs over 2,000 people and specializes in assembling plug-in hybrid vehicles.
Fives was familiar with the site, which facilitated the adaptation of the manufacturing process for the installation of vital components such as glass, batteries, engines, and transmissions. They also introduced fluid-filling machines, marking this project as one of their largest contracts in Spain.
Rafael Ruiz, President of Ebro Motors Group, emphasized that this reindustrialization showcases Europe’s potential to lead in automotive transformation through investment in manufacturing and strategic partnerships. The project aligns with the goals of the Industrial Accelerator Act and illustrates Ebro’s commitment to modern manufacturing and innovation in Barcelona.
