A Kankakee couple, Linda and Leo Ramirez, is excited to launch their event space, Palazzo VIP, at the former Sully’s location. The grand opening commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and is followed by an open house today. This venue will primarily host weddings and celebrations, with plans to introduce a dining option later.
Linda, who transitioned from a bricklayer and nursing career to pursue her dream, highlighted the property’s excellent condition, requiring only minor renovations. With a capacity of 350 on the first floor and 200 above, they aim to start booking events next week, focusing on one event per night initially.
Mayor Chris Curtis welcomed the reopening of this significant venue for Kankakee, sharing a light-hearted moment about his past visits. Additionally, another planned project for Kankakee includes a boutique hotel, banquet space, and restaurant/bar, which recently received preliminary support from the City Council.
