Golden Knights Forward Mitch Marner Partners with Nevada SPCA for “Points for Paws” Campaign
Las Vegas – Golden Knights forward Mitch Marner and his wife, Stephanie, took a meaningful step by visiting the Nevada SPCA, the original no-kill animal shelter in Southern Nevada. During the visit, they launched the “Points for Paws” initiative in partnership with Nulo, a pet food company focused on combating obesity and diabetes in pets.
Points for Paws Initiative
Through this initiative, Nulo will donate 100 pet meals for every point Marner scores in the upcoming season. Given his impressive 80 points last season, the potential donation could exceed 10,000 meals.
Growing Demand for Pet Care
The Nevada SPCA Executive Director, Lori Heeren, emphasized the increasing struggle many owners face in affording pet care. The organization aims to keep pets with their families and views the support from initiatives like “Points for Paws” as crucial.
Marner’s Connection to the Cause
Reflecting on the visit, Marner was impressed by the shelter’s operations and its on-site veterinary clinic. He expressed a desire to give back, especially after connecting with Nulo over the past two years.
Community Impact and Support
Heeren praised Marner’s involvement, noting the importance of figures in the community stepping up for animal welfare. She believes that this initiative adds an exciting layer to watching Golden Knights games, giving fans an additional incentive to cheer for Marner this season.
Adoption Support
As part of the outreach, Nulo has collaborated with local pet stores to provide adoption bundles for new pet owners, including free food and treats to encourage responsible pet ownership.
As the Golden Knights gear up for the season, Marner’s commitment to helping pets in need demonstrates the profound impact athletes can have beyond their sport.
