An East Granby man, Christopher Collins, 23, is facing multiple charges for allegedly stealing and forging checks from a local business, totaling over $34,000. According to Wallingford police, the checks were taken from the mail and involved a juvenile who was contacted by Collins to deposit the checks at various banks, with a promise of $5,000 in return.

The police investigation led to the identification of the juvenile as a suspect, who was arrested on August 21. The juvenile faces several charges, including money laundering, larceny, forgery, and fraud involving an ATM.

Collins was arrested on September 24 and charged with similar offenses, including conspiracy to commit money laundering and larceny. He was released after posting a $45,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on October 7.
