Fire Displaces Residents and Pets in Madison
MADISON, Wis. — A garage fire on Burdette Court displaced seven residents and four pets. The blaze was reported at 6:43 p.m. and quickly spread through the house, according to Madison Fire Department spokesperson Cynthia Schuster.
Firefighters encountered significant flames venting from both the first and second floors. They worked swiftly to control the fire, using water through the windows to extinguish most of the flames. Multiple crews were involved in suppressing the garage fire, conducting search and rescue operations, and cooling off hotspots for an extended period.
Currently, two cats are unaccounted for. Firefighters suspect they may have escaped. One cat is a gray female named Macy, and the other is a mostly orange male with white stripes. The owners are asking locals to watch for them.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but thankfully, all residents evacuated the home safely.
