The Delta Science Program has released its inaugural Research Impact Report, showcasing the significant scientific and management impacts stemming from the 2019 Delta Research Awards and 2020 Delta Science Fellowships. Since 2010, the program has invested over $50 million in more than 160 research projects aimed at enhancing unbiased scientific knowledge for better water and environmental decision-making in California’s Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. Recognizing that the effects of research can take time to manifest, the report presents a framework for assessing long-term research influence and offers examples of how these studies advance scientific understanding and inform local management efforts.
