Manhattan Pizza Opens in West Virginia
Inwood – Brothers Jordan Whitehurst and Zach Zarou have a rich history in the pizza business, now bringing their family’s establishment to West Virginia. They recently celebrated the grand opening of the first West Virginia location of Manhattan Pizza, which launched on June 1 in Butler’s Crossing in Inwood.
The duo has deep ties to the brand, having worked for Manhattan Pizza from a young age—Whitehurst around 8 and Zarou at 6. “We started in the kitchen, answering phones, making steak and cheese subs—doing everything. It’s a family business,” Whitehurst shared.
Location Choice
The new Inwood location is significant as it marks the chain’s first entrance into West Virginia, which is primarily concentrated in Loudoun County, Virginia, with additional sites in Maryland and North Carolina. The brothers chose this spot due to the influx of residents moving from their home area and local high schools into the Eastern Panhandle. “This location just seemed like a good spot, a great community,” Whitehurst noted.
Community Reception
Since opening, the restaurant has garnered positive feedback. “It’s been crazy. It’s been really good,” Whitehurst expressed. “We’ve had a great turnout and met a lot of nice people.”
The grand opening followed a soft-opening phase focused on employee training. The brothers are eager to engage with the local community, planning to partner with schools and participate in fundraising initiatives. They’ve already teamed up with South Berkeley Little League and are looking to collaborate with Musselman High School.
“We’re just looking forward to helping out in the community in any way that we can,” Whitehurst emphasized, aiming to make Manhattan Pizza a staple in the area.
