FIA announces its decision on Verstappen following Safety Car clash with Russell

The FIA’s investigation into Max Verstappen’s conduct during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix concluded without any sanctions, despite him pulling alongside George Russell before the second restart—a violation of regulations established after a similar incident in 2021. Russell, starting from pole, maintained control early on, while Verstappen swiftly moved up the ranks, overtaking several competitors.

The race saw drama unfold when Albon’s crash on lap 31 triggered a Safety Car, allowing leaders to pit. A subsequent restart led to further incidents, including Colapinto’s misjudgment that eliminated multiple cars. Ultimately, Verstappen passed Piastri for second, but Russell secured the win, with Hadjar and Antonelli rounding out the podium.
