Ex-Sonics Announcer Kevin Calabro Teams Up with Timberwolves | Entertainment

Kevin Calabro, a veteran broadcaster known for his work with the Seattle SuperSonics and Portland Trail Blazers, has joined the Minnesota Timberwolves as a play-by-play announcer. Following the expiration of his contract with the Blazers and receiving a low offer for renewal, Calabro decided to switch teams, stating it was “not worth my time” to stay in Portland despite appreciating the team’s roster and staff.

In Minnesota, he will team up with Jon Sciambi and Jim Petersen, with Meghan McPeak taking on the role of sideline reporter. Calabro is set to call about half of the Timberwolves’ games in the upcoming season.

With a career spanning over three decades, Calabro spent two decades with the SuperSonics, beginning in the 1987-88 season and witnessing the team’s rise in the 1990s until their relocation in 2008. Afterward, he worked with the Blazers starting in 2016, and held roles in national broadcasting including with TNT and ESPN Radio.
