The Culture of Life Studies Program is inviting students in grades 5-12 to participate in their annual pro-life essay contest, which runs until November 7. This contest, part of Respect Life Month, encourages students to reflect on issues related to human life and dignity.
Contest Categories:
-
Category 1 (Grades 5-8): Students will write a 500-word essay based on a quote from St. John Paul II, focusing on a specific stage or circumstance of human life—like life before birth or old age—and defend the value and dignity of that life.
-
Category 2 (Grades 9-12): Participants will reflect on a quote from Dr. Jérôme Lejeune and analyze a modern medical practice—such as abortion or euthanasia—discussing what medicine should or shouldn’t do.
Submission Guidelines:
- Essays must be original, unpublished, and not assisted by AI.
- Only one essay per contestant.
- Submissions should be sent electronically by a parent, legal guardian, or teacher.
Prizes:
Winners will receive pro-life books, merchandise, and cash prizes: $250 for first place, $150 for second, $75 for third, and $25 for honorable mentions. Winning essays will also be published online.
