Azerbaijan Grand Prix Highlights: George Russell Prevails Over Max Verstappen for Victory in Baku

In a thrilling race, Max Verstappen managed to overtake Oscar Piastri for second place shortly after the restart. However, chaos ensued as a pile-up at the first corner involving Alpine’s Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly, along with Lando Norris, brought the race back under caution. Meanwhile, a collision between Racing Bulls drivers Arvid Lindblad and Liam Lawson further highlighted the day’s drama.

As the race resumed, Verstappen pursued George Russell closely but couldn’t make a decisive move, staying at a half-second gap. A last-minute opportunity arose on the final lap when Valtteri Bottas crashed, prompting yellow flags. Russell, struggling with turbo issues, saw his lead diminish to just 0.196 seconds over Verstappen by the finish line, marking a nail-biting end reminiscent of past close finishes.

Russell’s recent performance has been strong, with three podium finishes in four races since the summer break. Reflecting on his improvement, he attributed it to gaining experience with a new driving style, feeling increasingly confident in his abilities.
