Beyond Physics: Quantum Technology to Showcase Business Potential at Chattanooga Conference

The Chattanooga utility, EPB, is organizing its inaugural “Quantum in Business” conference on October 1 at the Westin hotel. Aimed at informing businesses about the practical applications of quantum technology, the event features a lineup that includes talks from quantum scientists, politicians, and business leaders, focusing on the transition of quantum concepts from academia to industry.

This conference follows the launch of EPB’s quantum computer, the IonQ Forte Enterprise, which will be accessible for companies to tackle complex business challenges. Attendees will also get insights into the EPB Quantum Center, an innovative facility blending quantum computing with networking.

Key speakers include Niccolo de Masi (IonQ), state senator Bo Watson, and industry leaders from Deloitte and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Although registration is full, a waitlist is available for interested parties.

Quantum computing is projected to generate up to $2.7 trillion in global economic value by 2035, with current applications spanning fraud detection, route optimization, and drug discovery. The Company Lab in Chattanooga is also launching a “quantum commercialization studio” in November to assist startups in developing quantum-based businesses.
