TA Travel Stop Begins Construction on Site of Former Magnolia Motel | News

A new TA Travel Center is being developed in Laurel, near Exit 99 on Highway 11, replacing the infamous Magnolia Motel. This project, initiated by O’Gary Construction Group and Las Vegas Petroleum, represents a significant investment of $15 to $20 million. It will feature a full-service fueling station, truck service bays, dining options, laundry facilities, and shower stalls.

Ross Tucker, president of the Economic Development Authority of Jones County, noted the extended timeline of the project and highlighted recent business growth in the area, including the openings of Hobby Lobby and plans for Newk’s Eatery. During a recent Laurel City Council meeting, two additional commercial projects, codenamed “Project Wagon” and “Project Arch,” were also announced, with hopes for further developments soon. Tucker emphasized the ongoing efforts to attract more businesses to the region, which would enhance job opportunities and generate revenue.
