Detroit students explore environmental science through educational activities at Belle Isle Park.

The annual Detroit River Water Festival brought fourth- and fifth-graders to Belle Isle Park for hands-on learning about wildlife, conservation, and local waterways. Students participated in interactive activities led by the Friends of the Detroit River, including collecting macroinvertebrates to assess water quality.

Highlights included fourth-grader Justice Telly’s excitement for learning about spiders, and Kamorie Rhodes’ interest in water production and purification. The festival aims to foster a deeper connection between students and their vital waterways.
