Mathew Joseph: From Struggles to Success in Business
Mathew Joseph’s journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur intertwines with unexpected challenges like dyslexia, a family legacy in jewelry, and the motivating push from his mother.
A Challenging Start
Growing up in a family that owned a jewelry store, Mathew developed a desire for business ownership early on. Yet, his path was not straightforward. Struggling in school, it wasn’t until his senior year that he was diagnosed with dyslexia, which shifted his learning methods and allowed him to flourish academically—transforming from a struggling student to a model one.
He attributes his strong work ethic to the challenges he faced, stating, “Because I was dyslexic, I had to study longer than most people do. It taught me that if you stick with something, you can work past anything.”
Encouragement and Education
Faced with uncertainty about his future, Mathew’s mother played a crucial role in steering him toward a career. “You’ve got to find a career!” she insisted, driving him to Texas State Technical College (TSTC), where he discovered the Industrial Electrical Technician program that sparked his interest.
After graduating in 2006, he quickly secured employment. However, he never let go of his dream to own a business. “I always told her, ‘I’m going to own my own business,’” he shared with his wife, Lee’ah.
Building C3 Industrial Technologies
The pivotal moment came when Mathew began taking on side jobs, eventually earning more than at his full-time job. With Lee’ah’s support, they decided it was time to turn his dreams into reality, and C3 Industrial Technologies was born.
In just ten years, C3 has grown from a kitchen-table discussion into a thriving business that not only supports his family but also provides careers for others. “That’s success to me; to create something generational,” Mathew reflected.
A Community Impact
Today, C3 offers CNC and manual machine repair services, expanding its reach beyond Texas. Mathew actively hires fellow TSTC graduates, fostering a supportive community for upcoming technicians. His journey was recognized when he received the TSTC Trailblazer Award, highlighting his impact as a distinguished alumnus.
The Future Ahead
As C3 continues to grow, Mathew and Lee’ah are planning ambitious expansions, including a new machine shop and a custom order system. With a vision that extends far beyond its current achievements, Mathew emphasizes, “We’ve just got to get there.”
Through determination and support from his family and community, Mathew Joseph exemplifies the success that can emerge from adversity, proving that challenges can lead to extraordinary opportunities.
