The Texas Food Championship is set to take place at Corpus Christi’s Water’s Edge Park from September 25-27, promising a weekend of food, live music, and culinary competition. This three-day event will showcase around 150-200 competitors, including local chefs, pitmasters, and culinary students, who will participate in 90-minute cooking battles across various categories such as BBQ, burgers, seafood, and desserts. The judging criteria includes execution, appearance, and taste.
Local culinary students from Del Mar College will showcase their skills with six competing teams, while students from Ray and Carroll high schools contributed by crafting wooden tables for the event.
In addition to competitions, attendees can enjoy food trucks, BBQ, tastings, drinks, live music, and family activities, including a Farmers & Makers Market. An engaging “People’s Choice” tasting allows fans to sample competition dishes and vote for their favorites. The event aims to foster community spirit, offering free admission for kids 17 and under.
