Spanish Peaks Plaza set to transform into a center for Gallatin Valley nonprofit organizations | Business

Spanish Peaks Plaza to Become Hub for Gallatin Valley Nonprofits

BOZEMAN, Mont. — Greater Gallatin United Way is embarking on a $4 million project to convert a vacant building in Bozeman into a community space dedicated to local nonprofits in the Gallatin Valley. The initiative will see the organization collaborating with Bozeman Health to repurpose the former healthcare facility located at Spanish Peaks Plaza, near Main Street and 19th Avenue.

Vision for the Future

Kimberly Hall, President and CEO of Greater Gallatin United Way, expressed the need for a permanent home as their programs expand. “Greater Gallatin United Way has been operating here in the Valley for over 50 years. As our community evolves, so do our programs. We’ve been leasing space, and this new facility will allow us to establish a more sustainable and functional resource.”

The new project also aims to alleviate the growing operational costs faced by nonprofits in Bozeman by offering shared space at a reduced cost. “Nonprofits are facing the same challenges with the cost of living and operational expenses,” Hall noted. “Our goal is to create a professional environment for these organizations at a deep discount.”

Collaborative Community Health Efforts

Bozeman Health CEO Kathryn Bertany highlighted the project’s potential to redefine the building’s role within the community. “Community health extends far beyond the care provided within our walls. By repurposing this community asset, we can build a healthier, more resilient community together.”

While no final decisions have been made regarding which nonprofits will occupy the new space, Hall mentioned that they are considering organizations focused on mental health and youth programming. “All of us rely on nonprofits, whether it’s for after-school care, food, shelter, or financial assistance. Our thriving nonprofits are what strengthen our community, and we want to support them in doing their best work,” she said.

Opening Plans

Greater Gallatin United Way aims to open the new facility by July, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to be announced later. This project promises to bring much-needed support to the nonprofit sector in the Gallatin Valley, fostering collaboration and sustainability as the community continues to grow.
