Grand Reopening of Frank O. Hunter Park in Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) – Saturday marked the grand reopening of Frank O. Hunter Park, with local political and business leaders in attendance following a $370,702 improvement project. This initiative was part of the City of Alexandria’s Project Reignite, an $82 million program aimed at enhancing quality of life and attracting new businesses to the Masonic Drive area.
Mayor Jacques Roy, alongside representatives from the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce, celebrated the park’s transformation into a modern and inclusive play destination.
Mayor Roy expressed enthusiasm about the park’s development, stating, “This park is second-to-none in the city; it is beautiful. We want to ensure that not every park is designated for a specific sport; some are designed for passive enjoyment while others are more active, and this one offers a variety of programmed activities.”
The improvements include new equipment, 4,600 sq. ft. of concrete sidewalks, and 3,000 sq. ft. of rubber surfacing, enhancing safety, durability, and ADA accessibility.
