Bristol Brewing Co. and Blue Star restaurant have been co-located for nearly 30 years, thriving in a shared space near South Tejon Street and East Ramona Avenue. The duo expanded their operations by purchasing the historic Ivywild elementary building, turning it into a unique 20,000-square-foot artisan micro mall that opened in 2013.
Transition Announcement
As of Monday, the partnership officially concludes, allowing both businesses to focus on their own visions. Mike Bristol confirmed he now owns the Ivywild School entirely with his wife Amanda, while Blue Star operates independently in its own building.
Changes and New Developments
The end of their partnership brings upcoming changes:

Decent Pizza Closure: This vendor will be removed to make space for a new restaurant, The Restless Chef, set to debut in early 2027. This new establishment will feature a rotating menu that highlights various culinary regions every three months.

Ivywild Kitchen Updates: This counter-service eatery will relocate but maintain its core offerings while incorporating some new menu items under the new executive chef, Paul Ryan.

Morning Service Enhancement: The Principal’s Office will revert to its original morning coffee and pastry service, with an emphasis on a new breakfast program launching on October 5.

New Bakery Concept: Gold Star Bakery will be replaced by the Yellow Brick Bake Shop, maintaining a focus on takeaway items.

Operational Simplification: Customers will soon be able to make a central tab for their purchases across Ivywild vendors, streamlining the checkout process.
Blue Star’s Revival
Joe Coleman’s Blue Star restaurant, which closed in 2017, is closer to reopening with a $1.7 million remodel allowing for a single cohesive dining experience. Despite delays caused by various challenges, there’s excitement around its return, with the aim of honoring the restaurant’s legacy while aligning with current community preferences.
