Remember Oldsmobile? Here’s a car from when it still made V-8 flagship sedans.
- A Cadillac-derived V-8 and slippery aerodynamics helped make the Aurora a worthy grand tourer.
- This early example has ultralow miles and is essentially unused.
In December 1992, on a lonely racetrack in the Texas desert, a trio of Oldsmobile Auroras zoomed out of the dark at 180 mph, proving that a four-door family sedan could truly go the distance.

Zipping into view at Bring a Trailer is a pristine example of that exact sedan, a 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora with just 8,000 miles. It’s powered by a 4.0-liter V-8, a derivative of Cadillac’s Northstar engine, featuring double overhead camshafts and aluminum construction.

In production form, the 4.0-liter made peak power of 250 horsepower with 260 pound-feet of torque, paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. While it may not be a sports sedan, the Aurora is surprisingly fleet of foot and ideally suited for highway cruising.

This V-8 also powered the Oldsmobile Aerotech endurance racers, which set 47 world records. Yet, these remarkable achievements are often forgotten.

As the new owner of this green-over-sandstone luxury sedan, you’ll appreciate its premium feel and spacious interior. The shape is more aerodynamic than you’d expect, the materials are plush, and the V-8 offers more than enough power. The previous owners put just 8K miles on it, making it an excellent option for cruising at ’90s-themed shows across the U.S.

You could indeed rack up the miles in this Oldsmobile. The auction for the Aurora ends on September 23.
