Three women from Glen Carbon have been charged with animal cruelty after authorities discovered over 20 neglected and deceased pets in their home. Identified as Hannah Perry (25), Donna Perry (77), and Melani Norem (31), each faces eight counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and eight counts of cruelty to animals.
The investigation began with concerns of animal hoarding, prompting a search warrant executed by local police on August 21. Officers found 18 dogs in dire conditions, suffering from dehydration and neglect, and several deceased animals both inside and outside the residence. Following these findings, arrest warrants were issued for the women.
Authorities detailed that the women failed to provide necessary care, leading to the deaths of multiple pets, including a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Apollo and a Calico cat named Bandit. Several other dogs were found alive but in poor condition.
Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine emphasized the importance of animal welfare and the need to hold offenders accountable. Investigators continue to pursue leads related to other potential criminal activities linked to the women, including theft and fraud.
