On Wednesday, rapper Macklemore announced he would donate $1 million—his entire net earnings from his recent stint on Ed Sheeran’s tour—to six organizations supporting Palestinians. He urged New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft to join him in this cause, stating, “Palestinian lives are worth supporting.”
Kraft, who had previously been at odds with Macklemore over alleged antisemitic rhetoric during the tour, responded positively, emphasizing his commitment to protecting all lives. Despite the tensions, Kraft acknowledged the need for humanitarian aid in the region and mentioned past efforts to create opportunities for Palestinians and Israelis alike.
In response to Macklemore’s removal from the tour, other opening acts, including those supporting Sheeran, also resigned. Kraft claimed Sheeran had encouraged him to commit $2 million to aid the humanitarian crisis.
Following Macklemore’s announcement, YouTube star Rachel Accurso, known as “Ms. Rachel,” pledged to match his donation and called on other celebrities to do the same, highlighting the moral obligation to use their platforms for social justice. Her contributions will go to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
The Ed Sheeran tour continues in Philadelphia this weekend, with tickets still available.
