At its meeting on September 14, the USD 260 board of education approved the purchase of an automated floor scrubber for Derby North Middle School, as part of the 2026-2027 capital outlay plan. This equipment, capable of vacuuming, drying, and wet mopping, will allow custodial staff to focus on other tasks, especially during staff absences. This is the first step towards introducing autonomous cleaning equipment to USD 260, with plans for future acquisitions for Derby Middle School and Derby High School.
The board addressed a question regarding the warranty length and opted for the Pudu CC1 model (same as used by QuikTrip) which comes with a three-year warranty, costing a total of $35,134.20.
