Elementary Students Learn about Coding Ahead of Mississippi Science Fest
JACKSON, Miss. — A special coding challenge for elementary school students took place at the Mississippi Children’s Museum, leading up to a big weekend of science and technology.
The C Spire C3 Jr. Challenge was held this Thursday, where students utilized technical abilities and critical thinking skills to navigate various obstacles.
C Spire Chief Operating Officer Brad Carpenter remarked, “It’s 23 schools across competing in Jackson and the Meridian museums. It’s just a day of challenge, critical thinking skills, collaboration. They’re going to leverage robotics and AI. This year’s challenge is unique, featuring an escape room type of environment.”
This event was part of the build-up to the Mississippi Science Fest on Saturday, marking the eleventh year the C Spire Foundation has partnered with the Mississippi Children’s Museum for this event and the ninth year the coding challenge has been held for students.
