Woofstock: Oklahoma Coalition for Animal Welfare

Woofstock Returns to Jenks Riverwalk Crossing

JENKS, Okla. – Woofstock, one of the Tulsa area’s largest pet adoption events, is back this Saturday at Jenks Riverwalk Crossing. Hosted by the Oklahoma Alliance for Animals, the 21st annual event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring more than 25 rescue groups.

Jamee Suarez from the Oklahoma Alliance expressed excitement about the event’s growth over the years. “This is our 21st year, and we’re really excited about it,” she said. “It’s the biggest pet adoption event in Oklahoma.”

Activities for Pets and Families

Attendees can enjoy pet-related vendors and activities for children, including face painting and balloon entertainment. The Oklahoma Alliance will also provide microchipping for $10 and pet identification tags for $5. Additionally, raffles will be available at vendor booths throughout the event.

Pets Looking for Homes

The main focus of Woofstock is to connect animals with potential adopters. While some rescue groups may not complete adoptions on-site, others will offer same-day adoption options. Suarez encouraged those unsure about adopting to consider fostering. “If there’s a dog that you’re iffy about, like, ‘Oh, I’d really like to have it, but I don’t know how that would work,’ foster,” she advised. “The rescue community needs as many fosters as possible right now.”

Keeping Pets Safe in the Heat

With hot temperatures expected, organizers urge attendees to keep their pets safe during the event. Jan Lavender of the Oklahoma Alliance advises pet owners to take precautions: “They just can’t be on that hot pavement,” she said. “So if they have little booties or whatever they need to do, plenty of water for your animals to make them comfortable.”

Join the fun this weekend and consider welcoming a new furry friend into your home!
