Welsh gaming studios aiming to enhance their presence at the Tokyo Game Show

The Creative Wales team is set to participate in the 30th Tokyo Game Show, a major event in the gaming industry, alongside nine Welsh companies. This event presents a valuable opportunity for networking with industry leaders and increasing the international profile of Wales as a hub for creative talent.

Since 2020, Creative Wales has invested over £5.7 million in more than 100 games businesses, emphasizing the importance of the video games sector. Among the participating companies is Worldviper Studios from Cardiff, known for its cult classic game “Warsim: The Realm of Aslona.” The studio is now working on its flagship title, “Slumbox,” a cyberpunk life simulation.

Huw Millward, CEO of Worldviper Studios, expressed excitement about the opportunity to enter the Japanese gaming market, which he has admired since childhood. The visit coincides with a broader Welsh Government-led trade mission, promoting economic ties and export opportunities in Japan, where Welsh goods exports amounted to around £280 million in 2025.

Adam Price, the Cabinet Minister for Enterprise, Connectivity and Energy, highlighted Japan’s significance as a trading partner for Wales and the mission’s role in strengthening relationships and showcasing Welsh expertise. This event marks Creative Wales’ inaugural participation in the Tokyo Game Show, allowing Welsh game development studios to showcase their projects and potential for global impact.
