Downtown Reno’s Biggest Little Bike Network Enhancements
RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Reno’s downtown is set to transform as the Biggest Little Bike Network seeks to enhance travel safety and comfort.
Project Insights
Project Manager Sarah Going noted that the selection of streets for upgrades was based on existing cycling patterns, public feedback, and data analysis to identify areas needing safety enhancements. Planned improvements include better pedestrian accessibility, enhanced crossings, and improved access to transit stations.
Upgrades Ahead
Beginning September 21st, 2026, Virginia and Vine Streets will undergo significant upgrades catering to cyclists and pedestrians alike.
Community Impact
“We’re noticing increased bicycle and pedestrian traffic between the university and downtown, along with a rise in e-bikes and e-scooters. It’s crucial to ensure these connections are safe and comfortable,” Going emphasized.
Business Benefits
In addition to promoting cycling and walking, the project is expected to positively impact local businesses by providing more ways for people to access downtown and its offerings.
Enhanced Mobility Options
“This project ultimately grants more options and freedom for how people navigate Reno,” Going added.
Timeline
Virginia Street striping is expected to finish by mid-October, with the entire network scheduled for completion in spring 2027. For more information, visit BiggestLittleBikeNetwork.com.
