Vero Beach Regional Airport to introduce 500-space parking facility, but complimentary parking will be eliminated.

Vero Beach Regional Airport to Add Paid Long-Term Parking

Vero Beach Regional Airport is set to replace its current free long-term parking with a new paid lot, following a decision by the Vero Beach City Council. The planned expansion will increase parking capacity from 80 spaces to over 500 to accommodate the demand from new flights.

Key Details:

  • Interim Airport Director’s Statement: Brandon Dambeck emphasized the need for improved parking organization and capacity. He highlighted that the current parking situation fails to meet the growing needs of travelers.
  • Funding the Upgrade: The airport operates independently without taxpayer funding, which necessitates the introduction of paid parking to support upgrades and maintenance.
  • Construction Partnership: Envision Parking Partners will build the new lot and handle its funding, while the airport will maintain it.
  • Convenience Features: The new lot will feature license plate readers for prepaid parking, enhanced security with cameras and lighting, and will ensure that no parking space is more than a 2-4 minute walk from the terminal.

Some travelers expressed disappointment over the loss of free parking, though others understand the reasoning for the changes. Construction is scheduled to begin in March, with completion expected by next summer.
