Subaru is actively exploring new technologies to enhance its electric vehicle (EV) offerings through a partnership with onsemi. They are evaluating onsemi’s Embedded Power Platform (EPP), which aims to streamline the power design in vehicles by integrating electrical, thermal, and mechanical components at the silicon wafer level. This could lead to lighter, more efficient systems while allowing for scalability across various power levels in EV traction inverters.
This early engagement grants Subaru access to engineering samples and technical expertise, further strengthening their existing collaboration with onsemi. Insights from Subaru will also inform the ongoing development of the EPP platform. As Tamotsu Inui, Subaru’s Managing Executive Officer, stated, the partnership is crucial for advancing the company’s electrification strategy by enhancing vehicle performance and efficiency. Sampling for automotive and AI applications is expected to begin in 2026.
