A South Korean automotive component company, Hansae Mobility USA Manufacturing LLC, is relocating to Macomb County with a planned $93 million expansion project, announced by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on September 15. The company will occupy a new 400,000-square-foot facility in Chesterfield Township, located near 23 Mile Road and Interstate 94, creating 102 new jobs.
Hansae Mobility specializes in driveline systems and vehicle components for major global manufacturers like Stellantis, Porsche, and Volkswagen. The expansion aims to enhance assembly and machining capabilities, aligning with Michigan’s automotive industry leadership and creating local supply chain opportunities.
Chesterfield Township Supervisor Bradley Kersten expressed pride in welcoming Hansae, emphasizing the investment’s positive impact on the community and local economy. The new facility will more than double production space, transitioning from a smaller plant in Pontiac.
The expansion benefits from a $1.9 million incentive package, which includes grants from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Michigan Works!, aimed at boosting workforce development. Vicky Rowinski, from Macomb County Planning and Economic Development, highlighted the project’s significance for the community and the advanced automotive sector in the region.
