New Mexican Eatery Set to Launch in Former Casa del Rey Location

New Mexican Restaurant Opening in Sioux Falls

Date: Sept. 15, 2026

A new Mexican dining experience is set to replace the former Casa del Rey restaurant location at 901 W. Russell St.—welcome El Agave Mexican Restaurant. The establishment is brought to you by owners Martin Leon, his wife Elle, and his cousin Oscar.

Background of the Owners

Martin, originally from Marshall, Minnesota, comes from a family that runs the largest Mexican restaurant in southwest Minnesota, El Rancho Mexican Restaurant. His passion for owning a restaurant led him to search across various cities, ultimately finding Sioux Falls through an online search.

Menu Highlights

El Agave aims to bring a similar menu to that of El Rancho, featuring:

  • Appetizers
  • Salads
  • Quesadillas
  • Fajitas
  • Burritos
  • Enchiladas
  • Dinner Entrees
  • Specialty Items

Additionally, the restaurant will offer breakfast, lunch, and a senior menu along with a full liquor license, featuring affordable margaritas at $6.99.

Commitment to Quality

Leon emphasizes that the restaurant will focus on offering gluten-free options and aims to maintain reasonable prices compared to the local market, which he finds to be overpriced.

Future Plans

The owners are not just aiming for a single location; they envision expanding El Agave into a chain with additional outlets in other cities and possibly a second location in Sioux Falls.

Hiring and Opening Plans

The restaurant is currently hiring staff. Interested applicants can reach out via Facebook. The goal is to open doors sometime in October.

We’re looking forward to seeing this exciting addition to Sioux Falls’ dining scene!
