Cherryland Humane Society Launches New Cat Facility and Conference Area Supported by Donor Contributions

Grand Traverse County animals are benefitting from a new 9,000 square foot expansion at the Cherryland Humane Society. Naomi Lawson-Pobuda, the organization’s communications and marketing manager, emphasized the ongoing need for space in animal welfare.

The expansion allows the shelter to create a dedicated cat center, minimizing stress from barking dogs and enhancing the well-being of the cats. This peaceful environment is expected to expedite adoptions, as happier cats tend to find homes more quickly.

Additionally, the new facility includes a conference center for community events, schools, and camps, and provides more isolation space for animals that cannot be placed in general kennels. This initiative was fully financed through generous community donations.

With the shelter adopting out 700 to 800 animals annually, this expansion is a significant boost. Lawson-Pobuda expressed gratitude for the community’s support and excitement for the future of the animals at Cherryland Humane Society.

If you’re interested in adoption, the featured animals, Rambo and Lenny, are available for adoption through their website.
