A 26-year-old woman from Maitland, Florida, was arrested for DUI after driving her car into a lake in Altamonte Springs on Saturday, September 12. The incident occurred around 8:32 PM near Maitland Avenue and Lake Shore Drive.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver was heading south on Maitland Avenue when she veered off the road, hit a guardrail and fence, and plunged into the lake. She managed to escape the submerged vehicle and swam to safety, sustaining only minor injuries. After being taken to Advent Health Altamonte Springs for treatment, she was arrested by deputies from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office for DUI.
The crash is currently under investigation.
