Jhené Aiko has announced the release date for her much-anticipated album, Westside Whimsy, which will launch on Friday, September 11. The singer revealed the news on social media, sharing cover art that features her in a close-up against a teal backdrop, adorned with crystal teardrops on her cheeks.
The album title has been circulating since January, when Aiko shared the artwork on her Instagram Stories. In April, she hinted at the album’s vibe during a California wellness retreat, mentioning the influence of ’90s music and California’s laid-back culture.
Additionally, the album will be her first full studio release since March 2020, when her previous project debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and received three Grammy nominations. Aiko had also created a limited-run smoothie in collaboration with Erewhon Market earlier this year as part of the album promotion.
