Taylor Made Marks 50 Years of Business at Keeneland September

Mark Taylor’s journey in the Thoroughbred horse industry began at just seven years old when he and his brother Duncan, along with Mike Shannon, launched Taylor Made as a broodmare operation. They initially operated on leased land that would later become Dromoland but was then known as Tartan Farm. Early lessons included the importance of client relations and hard work, instilled in him by his father, Joe Taylor.

Now, fifty years later, Mark serves as the President and CEO of a leading sales operation, having cataloged nearly 12% of Keeneland’s horses in the current September Sale. The family remains committed to the values taught by their father, emphasizing the significance of helping others in the industry.

Joe Taylor’s legacy lives on through initiatives like Stable Recovery, which offers rehabilitative programs for industry workers, a testament to the family’s dedication to supporting those in need. Mark appreciates his brothers Frank, Duncan, and Ben in successfully running the family business, acknowledging the challenges of family partnerships.

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, Taylor Made is engaging with the community through special events, giveaways, and highlighting the contributions of those who began their careers at Taylor Made. The company emphasizes its mission to bring clients’ Thoroughbred dreams to life while upholding Christian values. As the family passes the torch to the next generation, they look forward to the future with optimism.
