Burnette, who leads the production, explains, “Because I’m not a live musician, I’ve never really been interested in being in a band… The movie was the art.”
Musical Roots and Influences
The trio began as friends in Huber Heights but became a band in Los Angeles. Burnette, with an audio engineering degree, supplied a polished pop production. Houchens contributed a singer-songwriter acoustic vibe, while Drake introduced hip-hop influences. Together, they challenge the traditional concept of indie-pop, embracing a fusion of styles in their creative process.
Recent Releases
Rose Pedal has released two singles in 2023, “How Did I End Up Here?” and “Chasing a Rose,” both mixed by Grammy Award winner Kennie Takahashi. Their ambition lies not just in their sound but also in their entire approach to music-making — remaining a studio band while exploring the realms of animation for potential music videos.
Future Aspirations
The band is navigating the complexities of being digital artists, aiming to produce unique content that distinguishes them in a saturated market. As they develop their animated concepts further, including comic book panels, they continue to challenge traditional music formats.
“I want to make something that I feel like only we could make,” Burnette states, reflecting their commitment to originality.
