Taylor Swift’s Promoter Informs Judge That Live Nation Could Endanger His Business

Louis Messina, CEO of the Messina Touring Group, has expressed serious concerns about the music industry’s state, particularly regarding the dominance of Live Nation and Ticketmaster. He fears that if these companies remain unregulated due to a proposed consent decree, it could further harm independent promoters like himself.

Messina argues that Live Nation’s practices hinder competition and harm artists trying to build their careers. He highlights how the company’s ability to offer larger guarantees, funded by substantial ticketing fees, serves as a monopolistic tactic that pushes out independent promoters. He recalls how, in 2024, Live Nation ceased communication with him, effectively sidelining him from promoting various artists, which negatively impacted their tours.

His letter underscores the urgent need for regulatory action to restore fairness in the industry, insisting that without intervention, Live Nation will continue to exert undue control over artists and promoters alike. Live Nation has yet to comment on Messina’s claims.
