Cavalluna – Gate to the Otherworld is an enthralling equestrian spectacle from Europe that merges exceptional horsemanship, dance, acrobatics, and theatrical elements, elevating equestrian entertainment to new heights. Presented by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the show runs until September 13 at Kai Tak Arena and features 54 diverse horses, serving as characters in a captivating story about the sorceress Meerin, who struggles to regain her magical powers.
The production, whose name combines the Spanish words for horse (“caballo”) and moon (“luna”), goes beyond mere horse displays. It provides breathtaking moments that showcase the riders’ expertise and their deep connection with the animals.
Highlighting its magical allure, one scene features an evil wizard on a galloping white horse, seemingly flying under the spell of Klaus Hillebrecht’s evocative score. Another charming scene includes playful ponies delighting the audience with their antics, such as a pony lying down like a stubborn puppy.
