Central Coast unveils $525,000 fund to support space and aerospace innovation research

REACH has introduced a new funding program called the Space Vandenberg Innovation Fund, which will offer $525,000 to promote development in space, aerospace, and dual-use technologies along California’s Central Coast. The initiative aims to support a variety of projects, including:

  • Aerospace and space technologies
  • Applied research
  • Technology commercialization
  • University-industry collaborations
  • Testing and validation efforts
  • Innovative projects led by students and community partners

This fund is administered through Space Vandenberg, in collaboration with Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara, and has the backing of California Jobs First.

Melissa James, president and CEO of REACH, highlighted the program’s potential impact on industry growth and regional economic advancement. Danna Stroud from the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development expressed enthusiasm for this investment, emphasizing its importance for California’s emerging space economy.
