A fire broke out at PA Imports Auto Sales in Bridgeport, Montgomery County, around 5 p.m. on Labor Day, affecting both the business and residents living above. Owner Shaf Rahman was inside doing paperwork when he noticed smoke from security cameras. Fire crews quickly responded, and while the dealership burned, Rahman’s main concern was for the safety of neighbors above.
One resident, 62-year-old Marlene Hagaman, escaped but suffered third-degree burns to her feet and is currently hospitalized. Her employer, Melissa Navitsky from Bridgeport Ribhouse, is organizing community support, including benefits and an Amazon wishlist, to assist Hagaman and her husband.
Community members, including Steve Wilson from Wilson’s Secret Sauce, are also mobilizing to help others impacted by the fire. Donations of money and clothing are being collected as the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
