President Donald Trump recently stated that Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier should not be permitted to sell its planes in the U.S. unless they are made domestically. In a post on Truth Social, he criticized Bombardier’s reliance on American customers, alleging that over half of their revenue comes from the U.S. and that Canada imposes unfair limitations on American companies.
Trump emphasized that if Bombardier wants access to the U.S. market, they must manufacture their products in America. He declared, “BUY AMERICAN. FLY ON AMERICAN AIRLINERS.” His comments come amid a growing trade dispute between the U.S. and Canada, with Trump previously threatening high tariffs on Canadian-made aircraft unless certain Gulfstream jets were certified in Canada.
Both Bombardier and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s office have yet to respond to requests for comment.
