Westminster College to Introduce New Exercise Science Program

Westminster College is excited to announce the development of an Exercise Science program, aimed at enriching its academic offerings and equipping students for health and wellness careers.

Program Development

Led by Dean Jamie Frueh, faculty members recently explored facilities at Slippery Rock University to gain insights into effective program implementation. Once approved, major classes for the program are slated to be held in the newly renovated Hoyt Science Center.

Leadership

Dr. Stephen Samuel, an Associate Professor of Biology, is at the forefront of establishing this new program. His office is located on the third floor of the Hoyt Science Center, where he is working diligently on curriculum development.

Community Excitement

Misty Motter, the Head Athletic Trainer, expressed her enthusiasm for the Exercise Science program, highlighting its potential to connect anatomy and physiology with practical application. “This innovative program will prepare students for various careers in health and wellness,” she stated.

Motter also emphasized the program’s importance for students aiming for advanced professional degrees in fields such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and athletic training.

Future Prospects

While the initiative is still in its early stages, there are optimistic expectations that the Exercise Science program will successfully launch, benefiting students and the campus community alike.
