New Pet Store Opens in Wiscasset
Waggin’ Wiscasset, a new pet boutique located on Water Street, celebrated its grand opening during Wiscasset Art Walk on August 27. Owners Michael Stefanilo and Mike McLaughlin, who moved to Wiscasset from Kennebunk, welcomed pets and their owners to explore their curated selection of pet products.
The couple, who brought their three dogs—Casper, Franklin, and Buddha—were drawn to Wiscasset’s historic charm. After purchasing the Moses Carlton house, they recognized a community need for specialty pet products. Inspired by the friendliness of the locals and their love for dogs, McLaughlin proposed the idea of a boutique to serve the town.
With fifteen years of experience running a doggy daycare in Boston, McLaughlin has built a reputation in the pet care industry, aiming to create a better experience for dogs in the park. After relocating, he left his Boston business to embark on this new venture with Stefanilo.
Waggin’ Wiscasset, located at 49 Water St., is tailored for dog owners, offering a range of Maine-made and locally crafted products. The boutique features an outdoor seating area and a pup cup window, where dogs can enjoy tasty treats made with ingredients like pumpkin and sweet potato, developed with the help of McLaughlin’s own dogs.
The owners envision the boutique as a community hub, hoping to host after-hours events for residents to enjoy with their pets. They aspire for Waggin’ Wiscasset to become a must-visit destination in town.
