Update on Ryan Calnan’s Charges After High-Speed Pursuit

Ryan Calnan, 27, from Massachusetts, is facing six charges following a high-speed pursuit that started in Bald Knob and ended in Searcy. The charges include:

  1. No possession of operator or chauffeur’s license
  2. Fleeing by vehicle with extreme indifference
  3. Failure to obey traffic devices
  4. Reckless driving
  5. Careless and prohibited driving
  6. Criminal mischief in the first degree (damage over $25,000)

Bald Knob Police Chief Larry House reported that Calnan was driving “at an irate speed” and refused to stop for officers, leading to a chase. During the pursuit, he reportedly drove through gas pumps at Searcy Mart, causing significant property damage.

Lt. Todd Wells of the Searcy Police Department stated that the pursuit involved a 2026 white Honda Civic, with speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. Calnan was apprehended near Whataburger after the deployment of spike strips, which resulted in the vehicle losing three tires. He ultimately crashed into Searcy Mart.

Calnan was taken to Unity Health White County Medical Center for evaluation, and the store remains closed pending repairs. Further details on any injuries have not been disclosed.
