Franklin Transit Authority Labor Day Announcement
FRANKLIN, Sept. 7, 2026 – In observance of Labor Day, the Franklin Transit Authority announces that all transit services, including fixed routes and TODD, will not operate. Services will resume on Tuesday morning, Sept. 8, 2026.
The Franklin Transit Authority celebrates Labor Day, a holiday dedicated to honoring the contributions of workers to society. Observed on the first Monday of September in the U.S. and Canada, Labor Day was first celebrated in New York on Sept. 5, 1882, organized by the Knights of Labor. Although several U.S. states recognized the holiday earlier, it became a national holiday in 1894 when Congress passed a bill to formalize it.
