Tehama County Multicultural Festival Celebrates Diversity
RED BLUFF, Calif. — On Saturday, people from Northern California gathered to celebrate cultures from around the world at the Tehama County Multicultural Festival held at Oak Creek Ranch.
Organized by Culture Bearers of Tehama County, the family-friendly event showcased various cultural experiences including Celtic music, Native American dances, and activities like the Eskimo Olympics for children. Food played a central role in fostering connections among attendees, with organizer Kathy Moore emphasizing the significance of culinary diversity: “I’m food forward, so everybody is welcome at the table. Trying different flavors offers a way to understand why particular foods matter to each culture.”
Another organizer, Avery Vilche, highlighted the inclusive atmosphere, saying, “The amount of love that you see here is just the coolest. There is no divisiveness; it’s beautiful, inclusive, and loving.”
Attendees found value in the opportunity to learn about unfamiliar cultures. Festival participant Serenity Skondein reflected, “I just think it’s really interesting. Knowing about other cultures helps me connect with people.”
Organizers expressed hope that such events can promote awareness of global cultures while fostering community connections.
